Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Chia Seeds raw, unroasted
  • 1 cup Filtered Water room temperature is best for faster gelling
  • 1 wedge Fresh Lemon optional, for flavor
  • 1 pinch Himalayan Pink Salt optional, for electrolytes

Equipment

  • 1 Tall Glass or Mason Jar
  • 1 Stirring Spoon or small whisk
  • 1 set of Measuring Spoons

Method

  1. Measure the liquid: Pour 1 cup of filtered, room-temperature water into your tall glass or mason jar.
  2. Add the chia: Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of raw chia seeds directly into the water.
  3. The crucial first stir: Immediately stir the mixture vigorously for about 30 seconds. If you skip this step, the seeds will clump together at the bottom of the glass into an unpalatable brick.
  4. Let it bloom: Leave the glass undisturbed for 10 to 15 minutes. During this time, the seeds will absorb the water and release their mucilage, forming a thick, gel-like consistency.
  5. Final mix and flavor: Once the gel has formed, stir the mixture one more time to break apart any minor clumps. Squeeze the fresh lemon wedge into the water and add a pinch of salt if using.
  6. Serve: Drink the entire glass immediately, making sure to consume all the seeds.

Notes

Safety Warning: Never swallow dry chia seeds and try to wash them down with water. Always let them fully soak and form a gel first to prevent throat blockages and stomach cramping.
Texture Adjustments: If the drink is too thick for your liking, simply stir in an extra 1/2 cup of water before drinking.
Flavor Warning: Avoid adding honey, maple syrup, or sugar if your goal is weight loss, as these will quickly add unnecessary liquid calories that cancel out your calorie deficit.
